Note the latest update posted 18 August, 2014 has around a dozen additions to the Honour Roll which now totals around 780 servicemen (and two women) connected to the area that paid the supreme sacrifice during or as a result of the War












 




 

Darebin (New)

Dau , Charles William (aka Dow)

Dau was actually from Wandong, but the family (of 17 children) being well-known in Preston and an elder brother Frederick noted amongst the first five "Preston men" to embark for service in the Boer War, 1899-1902   Sadly Frederick was one of two local casualties, his sacrifice later commemorated on a marble tablet at the Preston Shire Hall
